Today dragged on. I didn't have my first class because of standardized testing this week rearranging the schedule and my only other class wasn't until last period. Then, because weather has been bad the last couple of days, the sky let loose and we lost power in my building three times. The internet came back up after the first two, but after the third failure it didn't come back. So for the entire day, our building didn't have internet.
Eventually, last period came and went. Dismissal finished and the kids were gone. It was time for a staff meeting. An e-mail had gone out from our principal (that was physically passed on to those of us without internet) stating that there would be a meeting to announce/discuss the decision of the Board from last night's meeting. The news was not a surprise, but heart-wrenching nonetheless. This will be the last year that the school remains open, there won't be a next school year in the fall.
