Things that make me happy.

I turned the 360 on to watch some Netflix. I had to sign in to Xbox Live (it disconnected earlier) and I saw this on Dan's avatar page. It made me happy, especially because that's not a part of the menu that I go to normally, so it's not just something he put there for me to see. We're both so completely excited to have found out we're pregnant, it's been a long time coming!

DVDs and such

Work work work. That's what this Friday night consists of. This part of the Confirmation program is always super busy for us making dvds and everything.

First OB Appointment :)

Say hello to Baby Gibson! :) I was very excited for our first appointment today, even if there was a chance we would have to go to a radiology place for the sonograms. Luckily, the doctor had machines in the office and they were ready for us! We got to see a couple different views of the baby, and s/he was even dancing around during the second view (above), so active, must have been the Mountain Dew I had with lunch ;) This view is of the baby's back, s/he turned after dancing, but before the final dance number, we got to see the heart beating. It was so awesome! The doctor said that after 8 weeks, with a normal heartbeat like we saw, the chances of miscarriage are very slim. Such a huge relief for me! I love my doctor, she's a pro-life, NFP only doctor, which is super cool, she also found out that our current health insurance has a super high deductible that restarts at the first of the year. So the cultures and tests that could wait to be sent out, are going to wait until January--because they're expensive and right now, we'd have to pay for them. So we're only going to get billed for the blood tests that had to be run, which won't be terribly expensive, and I have time to find out if the insurance will cover lab work or not. I also had to pay for the office visit today, which wasn't too bad at $150, and the doctor said that she would talk to the receptionist and for the monthly visits after this, since we'll just be checking the baby's heartbeat, they could probably charge around co-pay price, $20 or $30, instead of the normal $50 (for people without insurance or deductibles like mine). She also gave me tons of free samples for the pre-natal vitamins because they're expensive. I had gotten some from Trader Joe's but they're huge and really, really gross. So she gave me some "Flintstones flavored" chewables, yay :) We'll be delivering at GBMC and there are 3 other OBs in the practice, but since we're an NFP family, Doc likes to make sure that--baring vacation or something--she's the one who delivers her NFP patients. We'll meet the other docs, but she's going to do her best to be the one that delivers Baby G. :)

Just for fun, Baby Gibson's first "profile pic" ;)  (our first view)

Rehearsal time

Confirmation is next week, today was rehearsal. Always interesting. This year, we're doing away with assigned seating, we'll see how that goes. If enough parents are upset about not being able to see their kid, we may go back. But as of now, it's just extra time and energy spent on something that doesn't really matter.

Landing lights

For your cup! The cupholder in my rental car lights up, which is probably the only thing I really like about it. The dashboard is all up in your face, the windshield is a weird angle, the car feels really wide, and I miss my car. One more week of this boat and I get it back!

At The Charles

I love The Charles, it's like if my Film Major Friends and I owned a movie theatre, The Charles is what it would look like. :-)

Good times with old friends!

Megan's in town! We went to college together and she lives in Seattle, I haven't seen her since our wedding in '08 and graduation in '07 before that! We went and got dinner, hung out, did normal people stuff (she went and got some stuff at the grocery store), we picked up right where we left off, like there was no time in between the last time we hung out.

By the way, the Steelers sweatshirt is not mine, I couldn't find my hoodie so I grabbed one of Dan's that I knew he wouldn't mind if I stole. He has another one that's more "broken in" and I'm also not allowed to wash that one during football season. Apparently, I can single-handedly be responsible for the Steelers not getting into the Super Bowl if I wash it. This one, has nothing to do with their season however, so that's ok for me to borrow. *rolls eyes*

In love

with my Knit Picks needles! They are so smooth and pretty and smell awesome. I got size 8 circ tips and two 40" cables. I'm working on a baby blanket :-)

And the verdict is...

It tastes exactly like yogurt with cinnamon rolls. I taste the cinnamon roll, and it's good, then there's yogurt aftertaste and that's interesting...overall, not bad. For yogurt.

Why I've been missing posts here and there...

Really, this is September 27th's picture, but I've been saving it since we weren't going public with the news just yet, but I feel it's suitable to go for today's picture! I'm almost 9 weeks (will be on Tuesday) and I have my first appointment a week from Wednesday. I'm using this as my excuse for missing days because I've been super tired in addition to being busy with work. The exhaustion has been wearing off, I'm able to stay up a little bit later although naps always sound like awesome ideas!

At first, I thought I was so tired because I was going from working 4 days a week to 5 and from going completely stationary (sitting for 10 hours a day) to always on the move and interacting with the kids. The timing worked out that I was getting really tired right after teaching, so that's what I figured it was. Then I fell asleep on retreat, which might not sound so weird, but I stay up all night working on the slideshow both Friday and Saturday night. Saturday I went to get something out of the room, sat down on the bed and the next thing I knew it was midnight and my roommates were coming back from the late night meeting. I had completely missed lights out and getting the candidates to bed! We just told dear friends at church this morning, they're all very excited and happy for us, so we're closer to going completely public. Not just yet because nobody at work knows yet (they did JUST hire me), and I haven't had my first appointment and I'm semi-paranoid that maybe they won't find a heartbeat or something. I don't want to announce on facebook just to re-announce a week later that something's happened. Both families know and close friends, I've even gotten some baby presents already (one of which is on the blog already ;) ), which I love.

I have had some morning sickness which is not fun, but most of the time it just means that my stomach is empty and when I eat (as long as my nose doesn't think it smells bad) it goes away. I've only thrown up a couple of times in the last few weeks, which is pretty good considering how bad some women can have it. The first time was while I was driving and that was no bueno, there's now a small bucket in my car, just in case. The other times have been when I got up in the morning, and mostly because the trash can in the kitchen smelled awful. Crazy pregnancy nose.

This also gave me a reason to go out and buy new yarn. I'm making a Redskins baby blanket, it's going to be soooo cute! :)

I got hit by a deer!

And all I got was this stupid dent. There's also another one in the front that prevents the passenger door from opening properly. Talked to the insurance people and only have to pay $100 deductable to get it fixed. Much better than I was expecting!

Catapiller!

This little guy paid us a visit. Besides a caterpiller, we're not sure what he is...

Happiness is...

Time to myself at Panera Bread. I'm killing time in between school ending and a meeting at school starting. I've been pretty productive, not work-wise with grades or anything but I finished what I needed to on the Confirmation slideshow.

Knitting again :-)

I found a super cute pattern for a striped blanet so I'm now working on a Redskins blanket, go Skins!

Oh Michael's...

Michael's has Christmas stuff up already. I'm not sure what's particularly Christmasy about this thing but I thought it was cute so here it is!

Scheduling

It's not easy to schedule 11 classes into 3 days but I did it! This is our book fair schedule for the whole school! Each class goes twice which added to the difficulty, but this will ensure they get everything they want :-)

Because I'm the best wife ever!

And when you're the best wife ever, after a hard day's work teaching, you don't always feel like making things from scratch. That's why McCormick and Knorr are awesome! I have a complete meal that almost makes itself! The steak is currently marinading in the fridge and the rice will take about the same amount of time to cook as the steaks (on broil).

My encouragement for doing errands...

I had a sweater I needed to exchange at Target and I have a hard time doing errands after work. Chick-fil-a is the perfect incentive to make sure I went to Target, I do looove me some nuggets :) I also love the sandwich, but something about it has soy in it (probably the bun) and I can't have it. I can have the nuggets and fries, so that's good enough for me!

My Poor Stash

My stash has been pretty neglected of late. Not much time for knitting unfortunately. I do have a lovely green and brown left over from my nephew's blanket, some of the brown is being used in my second $5 in Paris sweater, but I'll probably make a hat or something out of the rest, not sure yet.

More WoW, Less Lessonplans

I will admit I did nothing productive this weekend. I should have worked on some lesson plans, but most of my classes are going to be follow-ups of last week, so there wasn't really much to plan for. It felt really nice to not do anything but rest this weekend, it makes me wish next weekend could be as relaxing. Sadly, I'm scheduled to work next Saturday (not at school btw), so Sunday will be my day to sleep in.

Thursday I had 1st Grade. I planned to have a video for them, and I did, it was a video about birds. They wanted Veggie Tales. When I said we weren't watching Veggie Tales but we were going to watch a video on birds, the entire class started chanting "Veggie Tales, Veggie Tales!". I immediately stopped what I was doing, turned the TV off and looked at each and every one of them (17 in all). They stopped chanting. I lectured them on how that was not classroom behavior and I would not tolerate it in my class. This week, we will not be watching a movie as a result and I will tell them that. One girl chimed in that they should be grateful to have a movie at all and I agreed with her. Had I had some sort of backup plan, we wouldn't have even watched the bird movie. I'm so glad I have karate teaching background, otherwise I probably would not have been able to handle the chanting mob of 1st graders. Since I have the experience I do in discipline, all 17 of them are no problem and I can handle disruptions (for the most part). I had to put two kids in time-out in that same class, which was no surprise, I foresee myself putting both kids in time-out again in the future.

Anyways, I'm off to bed, getting ready for another long work-week.

New Dress :)

I bought a new dress on clearance (since it's no longer summer) but I'll be able to wear it at school by adding a black sweater and, ta-da, good for all year round :) It's super cute and comfy, I can't wait to wash it and wear it to work!

My 5th Almost-80

I haven't been online as much as I'd like the last couple of weeks (school has been taking a lot out of me) but I managed to log on and continue leveling my only high level Horde toon, Myrta. She's almost 66 now, just two levels away from moving up to Northrend, and once she's 80, she'll be my 5th 80. She's a fire mage and I love it! Making things explode in a ball of flame, it's great! I do tons of damage in dungeons, I can't wait to hit 80 and do all the Northrend dungeons.
